OK. You may have read our post “What Does 50 Games Feel Like?” Since the CBA is signed and the Lockout has ended, we all know we are only playing 48 games. So how, in a short synopsis, does that look?
Here are the top stats categories pro-rated from the 2011-12 season for a 48-game schedule to help you with your fantasy hockey pools:
Minimum wins required to qualify for the eighth seed? We believe that is 27 (54 pts) – 29 (58 pts).
Minimum wins required to qualify for the eighth seed? This should be 28 (56 pts) – 30 (60 pts).
We also believe teams who are going to make the playoffs will hold average streaks of three-to-3.5 wins and one-to-two losses every five games. This is playing at a 60 – 70% winning average.
So remember: 64 points and 25 wins are the high end of 48-game stats. Losing streaks of more than two games that are not balanced overall with a 60-to-70 percent winning average likely means a team sits on the sidelines come early May. And the 58 (East) and 60 (West) point teams are who you will see in the post-season.
